The team
In case you are wondering who was actually doing the work, here is the composition of the construction team.
My general contractor is a hands-on guy who can do pretty much anything. He has a permanent team of 2-3 guys and a few semi-permanent helpers. They handled:
- Paper work
- Inspections
- Site preparation
- Preparation for the foundation
- Framing (walls, roof trusses)
- Doors
- Windows
- Insulation
- Floors
- Kitchen cabinets
- Bathroom cabinets
- Shower door
- Painting (inside and outside)
- Drain lines
- Fence
- Miscellaneous (closets, TV nook, etc)
For specific jobs that required particular skills or had to be done faster, the general contractor hired subcontractors who did the following:
- Foundation (concrete)
- Roof
- Stucco
- Drywall
- Electrical
- Plumbing
- Countertops
- HVAC
- Tile
- Concrete (around the house)
